This morning while I was spending time with the Lord, he showed me this passage . . .and well, it got me thinking that the christian life does not revolve around the good things we do, or the people we impress, or the way we live.
It totally and completely revolves around our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and what He did at Calvary. He paid it all. . . so do we just sit back and do nothing? No, because as children of the King of Kings we have a higher calling in Christ Jesus. He has a greater purpose for our lives. And as His children it is time we start seeking Him with our whole heart, our affection, and our lives. Did He change your life? Why can't others tell?
Colossians 3:1-3 says "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
Why is it when so many people accept Christ they want to keep their old lifestyle, they are comfortable, they don't want to change. Is Christ really not that important? You can't have both, you will either live for the Lord or you will continue to fulfill your fleshly desires.
"Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth." What are we supposed to be seeking? Maybe the Holiness of God, Love, Wisdom, Thankfulness, Purity, Perfection, etc. "Set your affection on things above." What captures your attention? What motivates you to do things? Where do you put your time and resources? This world and everything in it is vanity, and there is not enough time to neglect our number one reason for being here. Which is to seek the Lord and His righteousness. Our lives should be in constant fellowship with Him. He must be our number one focus!
One day we will stand before our holy God, and he will reward you for what you did or did not do. Be a good steward and be a faithful servant. He is worth living for!
